Internships & FSJ

At ISHR, we are continually looking for qualified teaching interns, FSJler and student teachers. Do you enjoy working with children and having responsibility for their care? Do you want to work in an international setting with people from over 60 different countries? If so, we might be the right place for you to intern!

Please note that we have already filled all positions for interns, FSJ and student teachers for the school year 2020/2021.
We are therefore unfortunately unable to consider any more applications at the moment.

Internships and Student Teaching Placements

To qualify for an internship or student teaching position, you will need the following:

  • Proof of enrolment at a college/university
  • English native speaker or superior English language skills
  • If not from the EU: visas and work permit or residence title for specific purposes (German: EAT)
  • Proof of mandatory character of internship by extract of curriculum/study requirements


Voluntary Social Year Program/ Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr (FSJ)

We also offer the FSJ program which runs from August 1 - July 31. To qualify for an FSJ internship, you will need the following:

  • German native speaker with solid German grammar knowledge or
  • English native speakers or non-native English speakers with superior English language skills
  • If not from the EU: visas and work permit or residence title for specific purposes (German: EAT)
  • Application via the Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK Hannover) - you can email them directly here.
  • Interested in working with children of all ages

There are many benefits to completing your FSJ year at ISHR. You will start working with teachers, staff, and students immediately and have responsibility early on. Also, with over 60 nationalities represented, working at ISHR provides a great cultural experience without ever leaving Germany and school holidays.
