Our Foundation: The IB Programme

ISHR’s curriculum reflects the interconnected world we live in and gives our students a global perspective within their subjects. We offer the full International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum from 3-year-old Kindergarten through Grade 12. The inquiry-based Primary Years Programme (PYP) is used in our Primary School (3-year-old Kindergarten through Grade 5). Students in Grade 6 – Grade 10 utilize the Middle Years Programme (MYP), in which they develop the skills they need to make connections between their studies and the world around them. Students in Grade 11 and 12 are enrolled in the Diploma Programme (DP), a prestigious and rigorous curriculum that enables our students to become lifelong learners and understand complex multidisciplinary topics.

How We Support Our Students

Art teacher supporting student

At ISHR, we work as a team to support the children and young people at our school. We offer a wide range of services to work with teachers, parents, and students to ensure that the social, emotional, and academic needs of each member of our community are met. This support might be accessed through our Whole School Support Team (WSST), English as an Additional Language (EAL) department, or through our Home Language program.

University And Careers Counselling

ISHR Graduates

At ISHR, we prepare our students for bright futures. Whether your child is considering a gap year, plans to head straight to university upon graduation, or none of the above, our full-time university and career counsellor will help your student explore suitable careers, discuss IB course selections, and assist with university or gap year information. We are also available to help parents with any questions that arise during the process and regularly host workshops for parents.

Creativity. Activity. Service.

Creativity Activity Service

Joining an IB school means learning to care about and engage with the world around us, and at ISHR we believe it’s never too early for our students to make a difference. In an effort to foster the growth of engaged, active world citizens, our students engage in creativity, activity, or service projects (CAS) in the Diploma Programme and service as action (SA) within the MYP.

Library

Students in the library

Our library is a center of learning and innovation open to the entire ISHR community. It offers a wide range of literature from scientific books to graphic novels and gives students access to a variety of online resources including research databases. Students visit the library on a regular basis with their classes to enhance their skills in research and information literacy.
