WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
ALUMNI Q&A
from May 2023
What’s your name?
Helena Stewart
How many years did you attend ISHR?
What year did you graduate?
2021
What are you up to now?
I am going into my 3rd year of studying medicine at Lancaster university in England!
What was your favorite subject at ISHR?
Chemistry !!
In what ways do you feel ISHR prepared you for what came next?
I have to answer ethics questions in my exams and TOK has actually really helped me with that (strangely!) I also like that I learned a lot of different things so it’s easier to juggle the weight of learning so many new different things at uni because I was used to it since the IB.
What was the biggest challenge you faced in adapting to life after ISHR?
The difference in community… it was strange going to lectures and classes where the teachers wouldn’t know who you are. The classes in ishr were also so small that you knew everyone
What advice would you give to current students or your former self?
To pick subjects that you’re good at for the ib (and not subjects you feel seem good or seem socially smarter). To not worry so much because it’s a really precious experience
What’s your favorite memory from your time at ISHR?
Studying with my friends before the exams and all calling to help each other! The Edinburgh trip was also AMAZING! Best time ever.
