Child Safeguarding

There is no greater responsibility for a school than providing a safe and healthy environment in which to learn. At ISHR, we aim to create and maintain a caring ethos where all children are safe, secure, and valued. Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people is everyone’s responsibility and so we expect all staff, volunteers, and visitors to share this commitment.

Aligned with the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection, we hold ourselves to the highest standard in relation to child safeguarding and child protection. ISHR is committed to the safety of its students by creating a culture of transparency and speaking out against unsafe practices around children. The school culture is one that exposes unprofessionalism in relation to children thus preventing opportunities for school stakeholders to take advantage of young people. The ISHR Child Safeguarding and Protection Policy is based on international law and on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child of which Germany is a signatory.

Our Child Safeguarding Policy can be found at this link.

Community Education

Together with parents we have a shared responsibility to educate children and to ensure a safe environment in which all children can learn and grow. ISHR will:

  1. Annually provide age appropriate lessons for all grade levels to help students understand personal safety, needs and rights.
  2. Annually train faculty, staff and parent volunteers to understand our policies and procedures and to recognize and report issues of abuse and neglect.
  3. Annually, provide parent materials and information sessions to help them better understand our programs, policy and procedures.

Teacher Recruitment

Aligned with the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection, we employ professional and thoughtful recruiting practices with specific attention to child protection.
