ISHR Receives Digital Award!
On November 1, the International School Hannover Region (ISHR) was awarded the title of “Digital Place Lower Saxony” (“Digitaler Ort Niedersachsen“) by the Ministry of Economics, Labor, Transport and Digitalization.
State Secretary Stefan Muhle presented the award to John Barker, Director of ISHR, in front of the assembled leadership circle. In his laudation, he acknowledged the early interdisciplinary introduction of digital media and described ISHR as a flagship project and asked to support other organizations on their way to digitization.
Digitization at ISHR began as early as summer 2012 with the installation of a powerful WLAN network and the introduction of the 1 to 1 laptop program. The use of modern digital learning platforms has since supported and enriched teaching and learning. The digital infrastructure at ISHR made it possible to implement a successful robotics program with its fascinating combination of mechanics, electronics, programming, and teamwork.
The age-appropriate and balanced use of digital media in almost all school subjects, as well as education in responsible and safe use, help to ensure that students are best prepared for the challenges of their future professional lives.
“We are very proud to have won this title and that the state of Lower Saxony has thus recognized our work over the past years,” says John Barker, Director of ISHR.
